 நீதிமொழிகள் :1: 7

கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; மூடர் ஞானத்தையும் போதகத்தையும் அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறார்கள்.

கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தைக்கு முற்றிலும் கீழ்ப்படிந்து வாழ்வதே கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் ஆகும். நாம் சில காரியங்களுக்குப் பயப்படும் பொழுது அதற்கு முழுவதும் இணங்கி நடப்போம். இல்லையென்றால் அதனை அல்லது அவர்களை விட்டு விலகி ஓடுவோம். 

இதில் நாம் முதல் சொன்னது போல கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படும் பொழுது நாம் ஞானமுள்ளவர்களாய் இருப்போம்.  எந்தெந்த காரியங்களில், எந்தெந்த சூழ்நிலைகளில் எப்படி நடக்க வேண்டும், பேச வேண்டும், சிந்திக்க வேண்டும், பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்பதைக் கர்த்தர் போதிப்பார்.  இதனையே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம் என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.  ஞானத்தைப் பெறுதல் மட்டுமல்ல அதனை முறையாகப் பயன்படுத்தவும் நாம் அறிந்திருக்க வேண்டும். 

ஆனால் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படாதவர்கள் மூடர்கள் ஆவர்.  பிறர் கூறும் போதகம், மற்றும் அறிவுரைகளைக் கேட்காமல் அசட்டை பண்ணுவார்கள்.  பெரியோர் மற்றும், பெற்றோர், ஆசிரியர்களின் போதகத்தையும் ஞானத்தையும் கேட்கத் தவறுகிறவர்கள் மூடர்கள் என்று வேதத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

உங்களில் ஒருவன் ஞானத்தில் குறையுள்ளவனாயிருந்தால், யாவருக்கும் சம்பூரணமாய்க் கொடுக்கிறவரும் ஒருவரையும் கடிந்துகொள்ளாதவருமாகிய தேவனிடத்தில் கேட்கக்கடவன். அப்பொழுது அவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

Proverbs: 1: 7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; But fools despise wisdom and instruction. 

The fear of the Lord is to live in complete obedience to the word of the Lord. When we are afraid of certain things we will fully comply with it. Otherwise we will run away from it or them.

We will be wise when we fear the Lord as we said earlier. The Lord will teach us how to walk, speak, think, and see in different matters and circumstances. This is said to be the beginning of wisdom. We need to know not only how to acquire wisdom but also how to use it properly.

But those who do not fear the Lord are fools. They will ignore the teachings of others, and do not listen to advice. Scripture says that those who fail to listen to the teachings and wisdom of adults and, parents and teachers are fools.

James:1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
